…but it isn’t nothing

Image may not be everything but it is definitely something. It's something we feel, it's something we see, it's drawn from experience, it's painted by our memories and it's woven into our dreams.

The dictionary offers 16 different definitions for the word image, it’s both a verb and a noun, we have a self image, a body image, a brand image, and religions the world over teach us that we were all created in God’s image... so when you think about it, image is actually kind of a big deal.

ImageCo is an image company and we create images, all types of images, images that explain, images that promote, images that sell, images that touch hearts, open minds and bring people together. We do this by design and with design, with words that paint pictures, and images that speak clearly to inform people about who you are, what you offer, and the difference you can make in their lives.

So who exactly is ImageCo?

I am ImageCo...

I am Tim Garner and for the most part I am ImageCo… or ImageCo is me… the founder of ImageCo, the CEO, the designer, the writer, the design director, the sales manager, the head of marketing and the slightly brilliant nerdy artist whiz kid that spends entirely too much time by himself in front of a computer…but enough about me… let’s talk about you!

More about Tim Garner's all about Lucy.
It’s not all about me.

To me, life has always been a journey of self discovery so laying down a few paragraphs about who I am is kind of like trying to hit a moving target…and that moving target is me (Tim Garner). It’s been my experience that many “about us” pages are nothing more than lists designed to impress people with how brilliant the author is. As a rule, I don’t much care for braggarts or people that take themselves too seriously and I certainly don’t want to come across that way so here’s an outline of the things that matter to me (Tim Garner) and perhaps may also matter to you.

I am more than what I do

When someone asks me what I do for a living, I generally just tell them I’m a designer because if I tell them what I actually do it would turn into a much longer conversation than either of us are prepared for. So while part of what I do is design, it’s not a very apt description of what I do. In essence, I help businesses tell their stories and I do that by learning about what their goals are, who their competitors are, and what motivates their customers. I then help them figure out the best way to communicate who they are, what they have to offer, and what it is about them that makes them different from their competitors.

I am the sum of my experience

A snappy dresser.
Bridgette and her trusty boy Tim

I was raised in the Midwest and have always had an aptitude for art. I was the artist for the newspaper in both high school and college. I originally attended college with a fine art major but switched to commercial art when I realized that I would probably starve as a fine artist. In my journey to my present career, I’ve worked in several industries. I started out as a paper boy, I’ve detasseled corn (a Midwest thing), I’ve worked in a meat pack, as a high rise window cleaner, a bartender, a waiter, a gas station attendant, a truck loader, a t-shirt artist, an electrical sign designer, a sign salesman, and probably several others I can’t remember off the top of my head. All of these things have either led me or pushed me into my present career and while I wouldn’t want to do most of them ever again, I don’t regret a single one of them (except maybe the meat pack).

I am passionate

On a personal level, I am the youngest of three children. I am married to the girl I fell in love with so many years ago in college and with whom I am now raising three children of my own. My wife is my partner and my best friend, she does the majority of child rearing plus she helps me stay organized and focused on being a good provider for us all. I’m passionate about my work and I feel incredibly fortunate that I get to get up everyday and do something I truly love. I’m one of the fortunate few that grew up and got to do exactly what they wanted to do when they were kids.

I am flawed

I think a big part of what makes a person who they are are the challenges they have faced in life and overcome. Professionally my biggest challenge has been mediocrity. I’m pretty good at what I do but there are others who are better and there was a time when, in all honesty, I wasn’t very good. It’s taken a long time to reach the level I’m at now but I know I have much to learn and much farther to go.

My journey

I believe failures are just as important as successes. If success is a ladder, failure is the pathway that leads to the ladder. Things haven’t always gone my way, I’ve seen my share of tragedy and I’ve experienced my share of pain and loss, personally and professionally. You either learn and grow from these things or you use them as an excuse to self-destruct, I do not recommend the latter option.

I believe

I’m spiritual, I’m political, and I’m loaded with opinions but I believe those things are private and have no business coming to work with me. I believe life is a journey, not a race, and that we all share the same road and letting the other guy merge is always the right thing to do. I believe that experience, my parents, and my children are the best teachers I’ve ever had.

The best part of me

Oh yeah…

In my spare time I feed a passion for photography, art and writing. Check out some of my other creative work at
